About: There is nothing like a pop of color to make a hot meal even more enjoyable! These placemats are donated to Meals on Wheels and soup kitchens, which work to get meals to people who need them. Placemats can be drawn on, colored and decorated, woven (instructions below), and more.

Time: 30 minutes

Recipient: Senior Citizens, Homeless, Impoverished

Donation Location: Placemats can potentially be donated anywhere a meal is served. Make sure to contact local organizations before making them placemats.

Materials

Instructions

  1. Fold paper in half and make lines every 2 cm

  3. Cut along the lines, starting where you folded, and DON’T cut all the way to the end of the paper
  4. Image of folded in half paper cut across drawn lines, not cutting all the way through
  5. Fold another piece of paper in half and cut it into 2 cm strips

  7. Weave the strips into the first paper

  9. Glue all the ends down
  10. Ends of strips glued down
  11. Laminate your placemat so it will last longer and you are done!
